Hypnosis can be an effective adjunct treatment in psychotherapy and can be useful in relieving symptoms of physical and emotional disorders related to stress.  London says it is especially promising in the treatment of  children.  Using his standardized Children’s Hypnotic Susceptibility Scale (Consulting Psychologists Press, 1963), London demonstrates hypnosis with a ten-year-old child to determine his general susceptibility to hypnosis and to estimate the kinds of hypnotherapy techniques the child might be most responsive to in a clinical session.
